Trauma can shape the way we see the world, relate to others, experience our bodies, and understand ourselves. It does not always look dramatic from the outside — in fact, some of the most profound trauma responses are invisible to everyone but the person carrying them. At Bright and Associates, we approach every client through a trauma-informed lens, whether trauma is the primary presenting concern or part of a larger picture.
Trauma-informed care is a framework that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma, integrates that knowledge into every aspect of care, and actively works to avoid re-traumatization. It means your therapist understands that what happened to you affects how you experience your sessions, how you relate to authority figures, how you respond to certain topics, and how you feel in your body during stress.
EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and is endorsed by the World Health Organization, the American Psychological Association, and the Department of Veterans Affairs for the treatment of PTSD and trauma. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation — typically guided eye movements — to help the brain process and integrate traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge.
Many clients describe EMDR as one of the most transformative experiences of their therapeutic journey. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR can produce meaningful results in a relatively short period of time, even for trauma that has been present for years or decades.
We serve trauma survivors from Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Richfield, Robbinsdale, and communities throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding counties.
