Depression Treatment

Depression is not simply feeling sad or having a bad week. It is a complex, often chronic condition that can affect every area of your life — your energy, your motivation, your relationships, your ability to work or care for yourself, and your sense of who you are. It can come on suddenly or build gradually over months or years. It can look like hopelessness, irritability, emptiness, or simply the inability to feel anything at all.

Whatever depression looks like for you, Bright and Associates is here to help. Our compassionate clinicians understand that depression is a genuine medical condition that responds to treatment — and we are committed to helping every client we serve find their way back to a life that feels worth living.

Signs of Depression

  • Thoughts of death or suicide
  • Persistent sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities you once enjoyed
  • Changes in sleep — insomnia or sleeping too much
  • Changes in appetite and weight
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Difficulty thinking, concentrating, or making decisions
  • Feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt

Our Treatment Approach

Treatment for depression at Bright and Associates may include individual therapy (CBT, Behavioral Activation, Interpersonal Therapy), medication management through our psychiatry team, or a combination of both. Research consistently shows that therapy plus medication is more effective than either alone for moderate to severe depression. We also help clients make connections between their lifestyle, social supports, physical health, and mood — because healing from depression often involves changes on multiple fronts.

We serve clients with depression throughout Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Mendota Heights, Inver Grove Heights, and communities across Hennepin, Ramsey, Dakota, and Scott counties.
